This includes their mental representation of themselves, their thought processes, The self-schema consists of an integrated set of memories, beliefs, and generalizations about the self (an integrated network) It summaries relevant information and emphasizes specific aspects. We tend to have enhanced memory for information that is relevant to ourselves. People tend to process information about themselves in the frontal lobe region. The immediate experience of the self is known as the working self-concept, and its limited based on our processing capacity. When people consider different features of their personalities, they tend to emphasize characteristics that make them distinct from others. Self esteem is the evaluative aspect of self-concept. People"s self-esteem tends to be based on how they believe other people think about them, a concept known as reflected appraisal. Researchers have proposed that self-esteem in a mechanism to monitor the likehood of social exclusion.
