Women had a major role in keeping their homes tidy and safe for their children while also being in charge of instilling a good faith in religion in their children. Men also educated their children on faith but they were also in charge of the politics in society and being the breadwinner in their family. Men and women had a bigger sense of equality than past family forms. Were taught to pray and exercise faith in order to receive good blessings from god. Had more of a sentimental meaning to their parents rather than just workers. Women were allowed to walk away from their marriage if it seemed like it wasn"t going to work. Marriages were free choice and not arranged: love was a bigger part of marriages now and there was no courting. Church to make sure everything was going well.
