Institutional animal care and use committee (iacuc)- oversees research w/ animals. Safety & deception concerns: safety- participants are not to be exposed, without volunteering, to physical or mental danger or discomfort, either during the investigation or afterward as a result of participation, deception- most happens in social psychology. Deception work can occur, but it must be approved by irb.
