Parents of insecure babies seem to be overwhelmed by their babies. Avoidant parents: tend to be unavailable to their kids emotionally. Disorganized parents: tend to be abusive or hostile to the babies. But also depends on what the child brings to the table. Self-regulation strategies that we use to adjust our reactivity back to a comfortable level so we can move on. Easy child (40%) - quickly establish a routine, are cheerful in nature, and adapt better to new environments. Difficult child (10%) - don"t want to establish a routine, very taxing on the parents, don"t like new experiences, and their reactivity is very negative and intense.
