Develop internal working model of atachment: mental representaion, expectaions of self, atachment igures, general relaionships. 2 key indicators of child-parent relaionships: extent of usage of parent as secure base, how infants reacts to separaion and reunions. Types of atachment: secure atachment 60, insecure atachment. No japanese babies were insecure/avoidant: may be more emphasis on mother-infant closeness, physical inimacy, dependency, parents may have been more self-conscious and inhibited.
