Document Summary

The first thing i learned in the universal design of learning (udl) module is that every student learns differently. Therefore, to try to help every student achieve their full potential in the classroom the udl was created to help teachers have a variety of ways to present the material they are teaching. To help teachers ensure they are teaching in a variety of ways there are three principles of the universal design of learning that they can follow. The three principles of design are: representation, action and expression, and engagement. Presenting information and course content in multiple formats so that all students can access it (iris center). To properly achieve the first principle of udl, representation, a teacher can provide their students with many methods to access information for the different learners as well as have the students pull out their previous knowledge about a topic. To help students remember previous knowledge teachers can have their students complete graphic organizers.
