Reliability - if the study were repeated the results would be consistent with the current study findings. Placebo - inactive substance or treatment used to test the effectiveness of a drug or treatment. Double blind study - to prevent bias the researcher doesn"t know who is in treatment or control group. Statistical significance -probability that a study"s findings are due to chance alone is less than 5%. If the study was duplicated 100 times, the same result would happen 95 times. Statistical relationship- extent to which two variables or events are associated. It does not establish cause and effect but may provide for a better understanding of results. Doesn"t mean you like eggrolls because you own a dog. Peer reviewed journals -have submitted research reviewed by experts before publication considered the most reliable published research. Provocative effect is the power of suggestion when people are motivated or influenced because they are study subjects.
