A claim that an idea should be accepted simply because a large number of people accept it. An atack on the person proposing the argument rather than the argument itself. An argument that focuses on an irrelevant issue to detract atenion from the real issue. This fallacy is commited whenever the proponent of an argument atempts to persuade the audience to accept the conclusion by predicing (or causing) unfortunate consequences if the conclusion is not accepted.
