Document Summary

Spatial analysis-locaion, distance, space, accessibility and spaial interacion. Locaion-expressed solely in the names given to regions and places: global posiioning system (gps)- 31 satelites that orbit earth on paths to broadcast accurate ime and locaional informaion, site- physical atributes of a locaion. Can be a relaive measure, expressed in terms of ime/efort/cost. Cogniive distance- what people perceive with the distance. Fricion of distance- relecion of the ime and cost of overcoming distance: distance-decay funcion- the rate that an acivity or phenomonom diminishes with increasing distance, nearness principle (tobler"s law)- Maximize the uility of places at min. efort. Locate related aciviies as close together as possible. Space- can be measured in absolute, relaive and cogniive terms: absolute space- mathemaical space described through points, lines, areas, planes whose coniguraions can be described w math, topological space- measured by the nature and degree. Whether they are linked, how and so on: socioeconomic space- sites and situaions, routes, regions and distribuion paters.
