MAC 146 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Eyeline Match, Panel Painting, Kazimir Malevich
Document Summary
Frame rate: this is the measurement of the frequency (rate) at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images (frames). Physiological factors: phi phenomenon, persistence of vision. 18 fps = rate at which normal human eye perceives film as fluid. If the difference from one frame to the next is low, then fewer fps required. Flicker effect occurs at fewer than 18 fps: in 2008, researchers used a camera that captures 5400 fps to record house fly movement, their goal: to understand how flies evade flyswatters. Raging bull clip: change rate of fps: slows down and accentuates violence. Rocky ii clip: change frame rate to make it more dramatic. Really slow when the 2 are trying to stand back up: add cymbals to grab attention more too, much more sound, almost overwhelming. Verisimilitude: how close something is to reality, nonfiction. Can adjust or stretch the truth more easily. Mario cuomo: former governor of nyc, photograph versus artwork.
