Belief perseverance- sticking to initial beliefs even after these has been discredited. It is easier to get someone to build a theory than to convince them to tear it down. Thinking someone has a certain trait we engage one sided search for information. But when we have a negative first impression on someone then we consider never changing our minds. Self fulfilling prophecy- the process by which ones expectations about a person eventually lead that person to behave in ways that confirm those expectations- short bball player and the coach treats them differently. Adolescents are more likely to drink when their mothers had earlier expected them too- not only influence but mothers can predict from childs behavior.
