Document Summary

Different cultures have different ideas of what failure is and it can be looked at from many different perspectives. Because of this, i believe that there is no one true definition of failure. I think it is all about context and perspective. In general, we are taught that failure is bad. We are taught from a very young age to avoid failure. It"s as if not failing is better than succeeding. We avoid failure so much that we don"t even try anymore. We have the mindset of i"m not failing so i must be doing fine. this whole idea of failure hinders people"s motivation. There is no drive to go above and beyond as long as someone isn"t failing. From an academic viewpoint, failing is one of the worst things you can do in school. As students, we are taught to strive to do our best. It"s almost as if we are programmed to try for success.
