POST 201 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Wellhead
Document Summary
Natural gas is the least carbon intensive of the fossil fuels. They put it in soda for the fizz. You typically pressure up gas on the system so you can move a lot of gas on the pipe. When you get to the lng phase, this is where you use boats to take it across the water. Can"t do a pipe to ship it out. Goes from a gas to a liquid phase. You can take liquefied natural gas many places. There"s been a lot of interest in l&g in the last decade or so. Price of natural gas in the us was higher in anybody else in the world. Wanted to bring natural gas to the us in the form of l&g. It offloads (when lng gets warm and goes back to its gas state) and turns into a gaseous form. You can then put it into a pipeline system. Oil and gas is trapped in porous media (rock)
