Document Summary

June 25, 2018: what are the three components of cell theory, list the fundamental properties shared by all cells. Describe the importance of each of these properties: compare a prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell on the basis of structural, functional, and metabolic differences. All organism are composed of one or more cells. The cells is the structure unit of life. Cells arise only by division from preexisting cells. Answers: three components of cell theory are, there are three fundamental properties shared by all cells; cell wall, the nucleus & mitochondria. The cell wall is the defense property of the cell, keeping it in shape & protecting it from exogenic substances. The nucleus is the genetic power house of reproduction, which promotes propagation. Mitochondria controls metabolism within the cytoplasm providing the cell with chemical materials for survival: prokaryotes are usually smaller than eukaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells have true nuclei membrane bound, but prokaryotes don t.
