Speech: the oral expression of language, mechanical aspects of planning and producing sounds for language; represents the language, this is the proper language that we are going to use. Vowels and consonants differ in their basic manner of production. Consonants: produced with a significant blockage or narrowing in the vocal tract, manner of articulation: different ways of block airflow to produce different sounds. Place of articulation: producing blockages at different places in the oral cavity. Labiodental: upper teeth in contact with lower lip.
