IST 195 Lecture Notes - Lecture 20: Systems Development Life Cycle, Database Design, Information System
Document Summary
Information system = a collection of hardware, software, data, people, and procedures that work together to produce quality information. Successful projects involve representatives from every department in which the system will be used. Determine the exact nature of the idea. Interview the user who submitted the request. Develop all of the details of the new or modified project. Create detailed design specifications - sometimes called a physical design. Database design, input and output design, program design. Sdlc doesn"t end - it"s used to make other projects easier. During system development, the project team gathers data and information using different techniques. Review documentation, observations, surveys, interviews, focus groups, research. Data flow diagram (dfd) graphically shows the flow of data in a system. Project management = process of planning, scheduling, and controlling activities during system development. Project leader identifies project scope, required activities, time estimate, cost estimates, order of activities.
