The root of sin is in curiosity and discontent/dissatisfaction. Human nature is wanting something we can"t have. Misplaced reverence - b/c they looked up to god, they wanted to be like god. You now know the choice that you make is evil. You"re going to keep wanting something else from what god wants (?) Their pride challenged god and god had to humble them. Pride is self-centeredness and you care about yourself rather than everyone else. You don"t want to lose what you already have. We don"t want to give up what is already ours and lose value. You put yourself in front of others (and god) You value yourself more than others (and god) Idolatry- adam and eve were serving themselves. Separation from union w/ god, others, and self. Others: self-focused; don"t care about those around you. Self:you striving towards who you want to be vs. who you"re supposed to be.
