Document Summary

The rich are different from you and me. Freeland believes that the super rich is valued very differently than the other lower social classes. In her essay she writes in a sarcastic tone meaning that she disagrees with the way the rich is treated. She believes that the rich has an unfair lifestyle over everyone else. The rich has this unfair advantage that causes them to benefit in unreasonable ways such as the income percentages they are making. Packer explains a lot of different reasons for inequality in american life. One reason of inequality was the social revolution of 1960s and 1970s. This revolution was a cause of the later known economic revolution of 1980. This resulted into the economic slowdown of the 1970s bringing on stagflation and oil shock. People believed that capitalism was under attack, causing them to trust people less.
