Often described as the process by which people learn culture (norms, values, perspectives, e. t. c) There are an enormous # of socializers. Socialization is on the nurture side of the debate. Nurture: sociology emphasizes how we are shaped by our social environment. Nature: suggests that our genes make us who we are. That said about nuture, humans are biological creatures. Sociologists, when they do use bio, try and use it to suggest there are common biologies among humans that are going promote common characteristics among humans. They"d say this nature vs. nuture dichotomy is incorrect. Social animals require some way of coordinating actions to allow everyone to live together peacefully. Wolves, bees, ants: complex set of social rules that are hardwired into their genes. Humans: we don"t seem to have hardwired rules.
