Is the oldest part of our brain that is responsible for automatic survival functions. Responsible for processing basic emotions (fear and aggression) Natural drives (food and water) amygdala- triggers fear, aggression, rage hypothalamus- pleasure seeking part of brain, how our body maintains homeostasis (hunger, thirst, body temperature) hippocampus- processes conscious memories. Frontal lobes- speaking and muscle movements; making plans and judgements. Occipital lobe- includes the visual areas, receive visual information from the opposite visual eld. Temporal lobe- includes the auditory areas, anything that you hear. Right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, and the left side of the brain controls the left side of the body. Areas of cerebral cortex are not involved in primary motor sensory functions.
