The u. s. believes you should choose a government democratic. Believes in the un as a peace keeping body. U. s. and soviet union try to bring friendly places on their sides. We do not want places to be communists. We each are looking for spears of influence places where we have the upper hand over. Actual fighting did break out in proxy war we never directly fought. Stock piling weapons in case we ever do go to war with the soviets. By 1946, we see the soviet union as a hostile power and we see ourselves as the only country strong enough to fight them. It is said that we won the cold war.
