Increase in adipose in breast, thighs, & buttocks. Promotes changes in uterus during reproductive cycle. Affects mammary glands, regulates lh & fsh release from pituitary gland. Gnrh stimulates release of fsh & lh. Proliferate phase -> getting thicker & thicker. Prevent lh release & sensitivity of pituitary to gnrh. ~14th day-> at least 1 follicle is mature. Surge of lh released, lasts ~3 hours. Lh stimulates clot conversion to corpus luteum. Decrease fsj & lh release -> prevents more follicles from maturing. Blood & cellular debris -> menstrual flow. ~3/4th of women & of men are asymptomatic. Women: bacteria infect cervix & urethra, could spread to uterine tubes, cause permanent infertility. Men: burning during urination can lead to infection in epididymis -> infertility. Women: can cause pelvic inflammatory disease -> chronic pain, infertility.
