Climate change occurs on mainly three different levels: the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, the cryosphere. Key concepts: weather- short term atmospheric conditions, current conditions, individual events (storms, floods, climate- average weather conditions over a long period of time (mean annual precipitation, mean annual temperature, earth"s radiation budget. Amount of solar heat absorbed, reflected, greenhouse gases. Enables humans to operate by maintaining a specific range of temperature by facilitating absorption and reflection of heat. Greenhouse effect: greenhouse gases (c02, n20, ch4, cfcs) Graphs show increase in amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere except for cfcs because of the implementation of montreal protocol". The hydrosphere: ocean warming- heat absorption by surface of the ocean. Leading to increase in average intensity of storms: sea level rise- the sea water warms up and expands and takes more space (happening in the atlantic, pacific, indian ocean, absorption of carbon dioxide- reduces ph of ocean water.
