Document Summary
Sreedevi a, gopalakrishnan u, ramaiyer s. a randomized controlled trial of the effect of yoga and peer support on glycemic outcomes in women with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a feasibility study. A randomized control trial was conducted in india to test the feasibility of a yoga intervention with and without peer support on lipid profiles and blood glucose levels of subjects with t2dm. 124 women with t2dm were randomly assigned between the three arms and monitored for three months of the trial for changes in fasting plasma glucose, hba1c, diastolic blood pressure, and hip circumference. The results show a decrease in fasting plasma glucose from original levels in the women who were both in the yoga arm and in the peer support arm. A decrease in hba1c, diastolic blood pressure, and hip circumference are shown only in the yoga arm.
