Develop an individuation enhancing style of parenting: providing kids with tools needed to be age-appropriate autonomous and masterful while feeling nurtured and supported, parent is present but not intrusive. Supportive, caring, model, provide tools, give space for child to be autonomous: more anxiety a parent has about being competent, the more interference experienced in being a model for child, styles: Expelling = not present and not intrusive; not supportive. Promotes anxiety about mastering: feels of not mattering. Binding = always present and always intrusive; not competent enough. Promotes anxiety about competence: sends message that child is not competent, that they cannot do things on their own. Will not let child try to be autonomous. More intrusive, more resistive, more feelings of being not competent. Develop strategies for discipline: all about behavior and emotional regulation. Promoting correct social and emotional behavior: bau(cid:373)ri(cid:374)d"s styles of dis(cid:272)ipli(cid:374)e. High or low in responsiveness and high or low in demandingness.
