Uncertainty reduction theory: (urt) argues that we have a lot of uncertainty about people and that uncertainty is uncomfortable. You can"t stay in it or the relationship will not progress. We attempt to get information about the other person. Ex: seeing someone across a crowded room. Social media (looking at what they post) Actively: seeing info from a third party. Digital/social media: what other people comment/post about that person. Deals with the initial stages of friendship building/relationship building. If you find out everything about them, and you still don"t like them, you haven;t reduced the uncertainty enough.
