Economic system that can meet needs of members of a society. Promise of technology freedom is labor, from the toil and misery associated with survival. The type of freedom he is talking about can only be indirected in negative terms. Freedom from politics over which we have no control. Freedom from indoctrination and mass communication (news) Freedom from public opinion (sense of public judgement and excommunication) Technology is a power control over society. Political powers control technology and uses it to structure society. Technology is a promise for freedom, but freedom is not what is happening. Technology conforms to social conditions; we are controlled through technology; not by technology. Machines could conceivably be the most effective political weapon, given the way it surpasses the power of individuals. Precision, objective power, does not have basic needs. Technology is a tool or instrument at the disposal of those in positions of power. Use machines to satisfy needs of society.
