* there are more than one way to interpret something, and you prove theories to be false: specific research method. a) case study- set of observation based on one specific person. Try to understand what person is like in general. It is useful to study unusual phenomenon. b) survey asking many questions. Can be used a lot of differences way. It is useful to collect lots of information in short amount of time c) naturalistic observation- observe some thing as it happens without any control. You wait for what you want d) controlled experiment- you observe something under some situation. It is very specific and you control the experiment somehow. *correlation- statistical measurement that indicates the extent to which two factors are predictively related. Ex) if you are a tall person, you tend yon weight more. If you have a high sat score, you tend to have high gpa. Causation: the extent which two factors are causally related.
