Social psychology: scienti c study of how individuals think, feel and behave in a social context. Pseudoscience presented as scienti c, does not adhere to scienti c method. Contrasted with sociology (study of group behaviors) Social psychology focuses on individuals in groups. Individuals experience affect, engage in behaviors, and think about others: nazi germany: self deception, persuasion, violence, prejudice. Interactionist perspective: an emphasis on how both an individual"s personality and environmental characteristics in uence behavior. Levels of social context: doise"s levels of analysis. Most psych classes focus on one individual case study. Construal: how are you perceiving the situation and behavior of other people: we use both conscious as well as unconscious processing to make construals, we use heuristics (cognitive rule of thumb") in our conscious and unconscious processing.
