Came from outside cell either chemical or light. Intracellular-signal translated from light or chemical, some kind of hormone, comes into chemical info inside of cell. That signal goes inward into the cell and normally, signal is amplified somehow. Even a few photons is enough to change cascade in rod-artery segments in eye. Usually in cell, cells have t integrate info before it goes to the next step or maybe to a diff organelle, or changes something in nucleus. A lot of diff info comes insimultaneously, has to go to correct place. Individual pathways could be next to eachother in the same membrane doing diff activities at same time. So signals have to be integrated and go to right place. So by the time get towards end of signal transduction chain, info inhibits early part of signaling pathway and say no to no more of info from signal. Can turn on and amplify a pathway or just shut them off.
