Coors beer was a controversial product, owner was against unions. Milk did not start off his career with politics in mind. He reached out to labor unions (who in the passed are generally not sympathetic towards gay rights: milk showed the labor union that he had some power, and the next election people took him more seriously. The compromise: he told dan white that he would vote against a psychiatric hospital in the district. He built unions, organize boycotts, created a fake rally the big battle he faced was a proposition to remove the ban of gay people working in schools.
