Construal level theory: psychological distance, much like physical distance, has real meaning. If we think someone is far away or distant in time or have something psychologically close, we think of them differently. People see people close up in a more important lens, the closer you are to a person, the more difficult it is. People are abstract when they are distant. More theoretical when dealing with something in the future: we think of things that will happen differently then may happen. We"re taking in stimulations and transforming them into messages that the brain can understand. What is the relationship between a physical object and our perception of an object. Ernst vaborn studied things like sound and sight, and the relationship between how loud a sound is an our perception. Fechner"s law: curvilinear relationship, louder something is, better we perceive it, except when very quiet or very loud. Carl doting boch: founder of ut psychology department.
