Document Summary
Elisa: enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay is based on the principle of antigen-antibody interaction, detects and quantifies substances such as peptides, proteins, antibodies, hormones, and other molecules. Measures a coloured reaction product by absorbance using a spectrophotometric plate reader. Data measures correlates with the presence of an antibody or antigen. Info can be used to detect presence of viral disease. Sandwich elisa: detects or quantifies an antigen. Flow cytometry: method of detecting and quantifying different t cell types in a mixed cell suspension. Narrow stream of cells in single file pass through a laser light source. The difference in wavelength of the light and the size of the cell scatters the light which can be detected and analyzed. The light scatter is measured by two optical detector, one along the path of the detector, the forward scatter (fsc) and one a ninety degree angle relative to the laser, the side scatter (ssc). Measuring fcs allows for the discrimination of cells by size.
