HTHSCI 1H06 A Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Integument, Master Control, Keratin
Document Summary
There are several levels within the building of an organism: Cells will come together to form tissues; these tissues work to form organs (can expect to find all four tissues types in all organs within the body) Together, organs make up the body systems: ex. The urinary system is a group of organs gathered within the body functioning as a system. Epithelial serves to cover or line tubes in the body (cover surfaces, line tubes/cavities) Connective acts to bond and support other tissues together. Muscle used for movement or propulsion. Nervous serves as a master control; way of communicating across body systems and maintaining homeostasis. Classified according to the number of cell layers and/or the shape. Simple one cell layer in thickness. Stratified multiple layers of cells on top of one another. Simple cuboidal one layer of cells that are cuboidal in shape: ex. Tubules within the kidney that help to form urine.
