The one article that brings up the controversy surrounding athletes such as o. j. , kobe and mike tyson shows how the view of these black athletes can be skewed very easily. They talk about how many similar crimes committed by white athletes happen and there is less news coverage because they are white. We can use intersectionality when looking at this equation because the athletes are having to deal with the issues of having high status and being black and being a sports athlete. All of these factors aid in the issues of racism because they compound and add on to each other. Black people are highly overrepresented in jails, and this is another major topic in all of the readings. Often times the racial bias is ignored because of the deeply rooted racism within society.
