Document Summary

Interpolation allows users to estimate the value of properties at un-sampled sites from within an area covered by existing observations. Here we will examine the uncertainty inherent within interpolation based upon the original data and data sources the key to understanding interpolation results are dependent upon an understanding of the input data. Important data characteristics to consider include spatial representation, sampling frequency (temporal and spatial), measurement accuracy and the possible existence of spatial relationships or behaviors at various scales. This should be uncompressed into a folder called udata" accessible to the user with full read/write permissions. This folder will than contain two shape files area" and. The data provided consists of a set of boreholes that extend to bedrock as well as a polygon of the study area (in south-central ontario). Set the projection for each shapefile to utm z17, nad83". Load each into arcmap and examine the layers: spatial analyst tools density, rasterization and extract.
