Document Summary

Expanding on my original thoughts from the module responses, when i first read through this play, i felt a mixed bag of emotions. Going through the interactions between johnny and george, i felt satisfaction when johnny was reminding george of what he did at the residential school and anger at george"s denial of any wrongdoing. I enjoyed reading george squirm in his office as the memories came flooding back to him, with johnny slowly whittling down his defences. But more importantly i felt partially satisfied but also horrified that george at least began to acknowledge towards the end the true gravity of his horrific actions that he took against johnny in the past. I thought this was an interesting play as i have never gotten to read one that featured a victim interacting with a previous abuser, especially in the residential school context. There is very strong presence of the theme and concept of survivance and poison within this play.
