We have neurons, with myelin sheaths on the axons. We have synapses between the neurons. What's the good in knowing these things? 1-What is the forebrain composed of? The cerebrum makes up about 80% of the brain. What composes the other 20%? The cerebrum is divided into two separate hemispheres (a right and a left), yet the two intercommunicate. What structure of the brain facilitates this cross-talk?

2-The cerebral cortex is an aggregation of gray matter and glial cells. What is the gray matter composed of? What are the glial cells found in the cerebral cortex?

3-Which lobe of the cerebrum is responsible for you recognizing yourself in the mirror in the morning? Which lobe of the cerebrum receives afferent information from the integument? At some point in your life, someone locked up their brakes in front of you on the road. The bright-red brake lights were a sign of impending danger and induced a release of adrenaline in your body. Even today, when brake lights come on in front of you on the road, even if there is clearly no impending danger, you might still feel an adrenaline response. This is an example of how our emotions and our memories are intimately related. Where does this occur in the cerebrum?
