Which STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections, STDs, formerly known as STDs or Sexually Transmitted Diseases) can be cured and which can only be treated?

For STIs (STDs) that can only be treated, would you always be contagious?

Are they caused from a bacteria, virus, fungus, or some other agent?

What are the most effective methods to prevent their spread to yourself and your partner? What should you do if you are diagnosed with an STI (STD)?

PLEASE post a photo yes, I want folks to see the potential problems that can occur. Many of the nastier photos are in black and white because they are from years ago; today, we treat the condition earlier and they do not progress as often/severly as they did way back when.
