All living things are able to maintain internal homeostasis and to pass genetic information to their offspring. Describe a possible scenario in which natural selection acted on a population of protobionts (protocells) containing various forms of RNA. Also, describe how the first living cells in an ancestral RNA world were able to both maintain homeostasis and pass on genetic information.
