Psychologists investigate how values form, why they change, and how they influence attitudes and actions. Our social representations help us make sense of our world. That human thinking is seldom dispassionate is precisely why we need systematic observation and experimentation if we are to check our cherished ideas against reality. I knew it all along intuitively: does social psychology simply formalize what any amateur already knows, hindsight bias the tendency to exaggerate, after learning an outcome, one"s ability to have foreseen how something turned out. Also known as the i-knew-it- all-along phenomenon: think you already knew something once it is presented to you.
