Document Summary
Two or more people interacting interdependently to achieve a common goal. Formal work groups established by organization to facilitate the achievement of organizational goals e. g. 1 manager and 6 employees. Task forces temporary groups that meet to achieve particular goals or to solve particular problems, e. g. suggesting productivity improvements. Committees permanent groups that handle recurrent assignments outside the usual work group structures. Informal work groups emerge naturally in response to the common interests of organizational members. Groups do not necessarily progress clearly through the stages one at a time. Groups can sometimes go back to an earlier stage. Context can matter e. g. flight crews can immediately reach performing stage: punctuated equilibrium model. 1)prepare carefully for the first meeting: as long as ppl are working, don t look for radical progress during phase 1, manage midpoint transition carefully evaluate strengths and weakness of ideas generated.
