Document Summary

More than just right side of the brain controlling the left; there are actual problems. *more proper to use the word mild aphasia. So if you"re right-handed, left hemisphere is very important in language. Few language problems: rarely leads to complete aphasia, only ones who did show aphasia with this damage were left-handed or ambidextrous and they showed good recovery from language problems, right-handed people with right hemisphere damage showed no language. Problems: only left-handed did but they showed recovery. If you"re right handed language is in the left hemisphere. If you"re left handed you have language in both hemispheres (bilaterally located)! So no matter which side you damage you will have language problems but either way it doesnt matter because you will recover! In children, language is on both sides (even in right-handed kids: laterlization is a developmental phenomenon plastic to concrete, developing brain is very plastic new neurons, projections, etc, left handed/right-handed seems genetic but not entirely clear.
