Emotion: 3 components, behavioural, physiological changes, cognitive. Ekman believed that there are over 7000 facial expressions. Pure/primary emotions: happiness, surprise, disgust, sadness, fear and anger. Mixed emotions: desire, jealousy, pride, love, disappointment and relief. *couple of multiple choice questions on theories of emotion. James-lange theory- different arousing situations will trigger a different set or pattern of arousal that in turn that leads to the experience of different emotions. Cannon-bard- stimulus will be processed by the thalamus and will simultaneously give you general physiological arousal and will let you experience the emotion. They are both occurring at the same time. Schachter- stimulus leads to general arousal and cognitive appraisal and it will give you emotion. Facial-feedback hypothesis- muscular feedback from one s own facial expressions contribute to one s experience of emotion.
