Prompts: used to increase likelihood that person will engage in correct behavior at correct time. stimulus (sd) If correct behavior is not occurring, behavior can"t be reinforced. Fading: way to transfer stimulus control from prompts to the sd. Prompt is antecedent stimulus or event used to evoke appropriate behavior in particular situation. Types of prompts: response prompts, verbal prompts. You can change salience of sd or s delta in number of ways. Can change position of sd or s delta or change some dimension: extrastimulus prompt: adding another stimulus or cue to the sd. Sometimes stimulus prompts involve adding a stimulus to help a person make a correct discrimination (extrastimulus prompt) Wacker and berg: used pictures prompts to help adolescents with mental retardation complete complex vocational tasks correctly. Picture prompts helped adolescents package or assemble correct part at correct time.
