Production managers- managers responsible for ensuring that operations processes create value and provide benefits. Operations process- a set of methods and technologies used in the production of a good or a service. Fabrication processes (mechanically altered to fit basic shape or form of product) Analytic processes- production process where resources are broken down. Synthetic processes- production process where resources are combined. High contact processes- a system in which the service cannot be provided without the customer being physically in the system. Low contact processes- a system in which the service can be provided without the customer being in the system. Operations capability- the activity or process that production must do especially well, with high proficiency. In manufacturing inputs are glass and steel, not in service production.
