Wmf production: established/traditional technology = garments, textiles, toys, furniture, soft goods etc, modern technology = electrical goods and equipment. In general, the degree of autonomy by wmf is limited since they cannot develop new technology easily. Improving technology at existing locations to reduce the need for labour. This greater degree of control is due the lack of workers" rights in the third world. Many governments fail to enforce proper labour legislation, or labour unions are incorporated into the state apparatus, resulting in the poor unable to protect themselves against labour exploitation. Young women (aged 15- 25) primarily constitute labour force of wmfs - perhaps that jobs are seen as women"s work .
