Background and context
In biology, metabolic pathways can be defined as the set of linked reactions that results in the formation of products from given reactants in the cells. The reactants, intermediates, and the products formed within a metabolic pathway are termed metabolites. The reactants and intermediates are transformed into products with the help of enzymes. The enzymes help in carrying out the reactions within the body at optimal conditions.
