Background and context

Chyme is a thick semi-fluid mass of partially digested food that mixes with the gastric juices of the stomach. The presence of hydrochloric acid in gastric juice makes chyme acidic in nature. This acidic chyme enters the small intestine through the pyloric sphincter.
