Background and context
The process of conversion of light energy into chemical energy is photosynthesis process which is performed by plants and some other organisms also. In plants, two types of tissue systems are present as meristematic and non-meristematic tissues.
Photosynthesis is the only known process by which oxygen is added to the atmosphere, to compensate for oxygen being used in the respiration of the organisms and burning of organic fuels.
